All are welcome Friday, March 11 from 5-8 and Sunday, March 13 from 12-3 at Newfane’s Moore Free Library. Please allow a half hour to audition.

Here, Gus and The Philadelphia are both part of this program of short plays which opens the Rock River Players’ 2022 season. By Jennifer Jasper, ‘Here, Gus’ is about a woman who returns to her estranged father’s apartment after his death to deal with what he’s left behind including Gus, his best friend, a dog. Roles are: Gretchen, a successful businesswoman, 30s-40s; Gus, a dog. (with no costume denoting a “dog” or any other canine affectation), 14-30s; Caroline, a neighbor, 20s-50s; George, Gretchen’s father, over 65.

‘The Philadelphia’ by Davis Ives, takes place in a restaurant, when a man is informed by a friend that his frustratingly unlucky day is the result of his ensnarement in an anomalous pocket of reality. Roles are: Al, easy going, to a point, 40s-60s; Mark, frazzled, 30s-50s; waitress, burnt out on the service industry, 30s-50s.

Director Pamela Corkey, new to the Players and to the area, is an experienced film director and writer “excited,” she says, “ to bring her storytelling skills from the screen to the stage.”
