Kindly aim to arrive within the first hour to help us accommodate all participants! Actors do not need to prepare anything in advance, and can expect to stay for 60-90 minutes.

 

ALL EXPERIENCE LEVELS WELCOME!

We’re thrilled to present an eclectic array of pieces in this year’s program, all penned by talented local playwrights. Below, you’ll find a list of casting needs, along with a glimpse into the themes each act aims to explore – join us as we bring these original works to life on the stage!

 

Rehearsals will be scheduled independently by each director according to cast availability between now and the show’s performance dates: May 31-June 2.

 BACCHUS’ BAR & GRILL by Michael Nethercott

DIRECTOR: Sue Kelly

SYNOPSIS: Bacchus, the Roman god of wine, provides a glimpse into a typical evening at his divine bar, which, frequented by gods and goddesses, becomes a setting to observe the daily triumphs and hardships of life as a deity. (11 pages)

TRIANGLE by Patrick Keppel

DIRECTOR: Patrick Keppel

SYNOPSIS: Joan, a survivor of the 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, reflects on her experience to three other seamstresses, dramatizing the psychological difficulty of maintaining ideals, or even of expressing one’s basic humanity, within a framework of social injustice. (14 pages)

CLOWN by Bob Culinane

SYNOPSIS: Two prospective employees show up for a job interview with very different backgrounds and understandings of the position they’ve applied for, and soon find themselves bonding over shared frustrations. (12 pages)

A BOY’S WILL by Kevin Stine

SYNOPSIS: Three college students trek through the roads of Vermont in search of the elusive Robert Frost to become enlightened about poetry, and end up finding something quite different. (8 pages)

THE REQUIRED MAN by Michael Nethercott

SYNOPSIS: In the late 1930s, a suburban housewife’s world is disrupted when her estranged brother, who has fallen into a life of crime, arrives with two of his cohorts, including a wounded man with an unsettling claim. (30 pages)
