The Rock River Players are proud to present their 2025 Evening of One-Acts, a showcase of the diverse theatrical talents within our community. This year’s collection of short plays offers a range of narratives with moments of laughter and reflection, that offer adventure and hijinx, and explore themes of family and the search for understanding.

This year’s program features six distinct, original one-acts by area playwrights:

SOAP – written by Bob Cullinane and directed by Tracy Berchi – presents an absurd take on how a mundane everyday situation can spiral hilariously out of control.

FOUR YEARS, FOUR MONTHS – written and directed by James Gelter – delves into the complexities of love, loss, and the intriguing possibilities and perils of bending time.

A COUNTRY STORE – written by Luke Krueger and directed by Tom Ely – offers a glimpse into a family business faced with the uncertainties in the early days of the pandemic.

YOU-HAUL – written by Jessey Ina-Lee, Susan O’Hara & Georgie Runkle; directed by Sue Kelly – meets a mother gearing up to share big news with her adult daughter, setting the stage for unexpected family revelations.

THE GOOD STUFF – written by Vicky Santiesteban and directed by Jess Guerrero – explores the intricate dynamics of family, memory, and the search for meaningful connection across generations.

THE PIRATICAL GENTLEMEN’S ASSOCIATION – written by Isabella Watkins and directed by Kay Becker – delivers a swashbuckling adventure with a unique literary twist and a charmingly unconventional crew.

This production marks the RRP’s fourth consecutive evening of one-acts, and the second year in a row that all of the pieces on the program are local submissions.

Of note, 18-year-old Isabella Watkins, who wrote “The Piratical Gentlemen’s Association,” is seeing her work brought to the stage for the first time. This production’s version of the  piece is adapted from a longer play of the same name, which recently won a Silver Key from the 2025 Scholastics Arts & Writing Awards.

“This year’s lineup of one-acts offers a vibrant snapshot of the creativity that exists all around us in this community,” says Amy Donahue, Producer and RRP Co-Artistic Director. “We’re honored to be able to support the artistry of 38 talented local directors, actors, and playwrights by bringing this unique collection of stories to the Williamsville stage!”

This year’s company includes 27 actors, nearly half of whom will be making their RRP debut: MeadowJo Brown, Kay Becker, Tracy Berchi, Amy Donahue, Tom Ely, Mimi Fang, Robin Fitzgerald, James Gelter, Eden Gorst, Jess Guerrero, Alex Hacker, Julie Holland, Phil Kramer, Alex Lacey, Dyana Lee, Laura Lockie, Don McCullough, Nick Morgan, Susan O’Hara, John Ogorzalek, Casey Parles, Rebecca Saunders, Andrew Seidman, Dawn Slade, Kira Storm, Rose Watson, and Keira Leigh Zagaeski.
