Rock River Players (RRP) is proud to announce its first-ever Summer Musical Theater Revue (SMTR), set to grace the stage this July. This cabaret-style production features a dynamic collection of songs from the Broadway canon, ranging from timeless classics to contemporary gems, performed at the Williamsville Hall.
The revue is scheduled for two consecutive weekends: July 17-19 and July 24-26. Performances will take place on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m. Audiences can expect an evening of lightly staged, mostly memorized performances designed to showcase the music and the exceptional talent of local performers.
The program includes a diverse repertoire from legendary composers such as Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jonathan Larson, and many others. Featured shows include numbers from popular shows like West Side Story, Bye Bye Birdie, and Company, alongside lesser-known treasures from Fiorello and Finding Neverland. Each number will be briefly introduced to provide theatrical context for the audience.
Conceived and directed by Marlboro’s Walt Cramer, the RRPSMTR brings a professional “Encores at City Center” feel to Vermont. Cramer is joined by renowned Music Director Dan Dewalt of South Newfane, a multi-talented composer and 30-year veteran of musical theater accompaniment. The evening is produced by Amy Donahue, Rock River Players’ Artistic Director.
The talented cast includes Jeff, Jon, Addison, Laura, Addie, Gwyneth, Marilyn, Susan, X, and Walt. With minimal sets and costumes, the spotlight remains firmly on the music and the artistry of these local performers.
